Dancing in the Digital Domain

Dance and technology is fast becoming the wave of the future for dance in performance. What are your thoughts about about this collaboration? Likes and dislikes? In what ways does technology expand dance and in what ways does it limit it?

You can pick one piece in particular or speak generally about a few that support your thoughts. Enjoy the show!

Authentic Movement and Showing Next Week

Hey Dancers,

I apologize for being so inconsistent with the blog entries. I also wanted you to have a nice long holiday weekend with no work from me. But now, we're back at it for our last few classes together.

We will be doing a showing next week with the other modern classes. We will bring back some of the dances that we have learned over the quarter and share some of our exercises during the group warm up next Thursday.

It's been a few days since we did our Authentic Movement class, but I'd like you to post any lasting impressions from that experience to the bulletin board.

We've got some interesting things to do this week. See you in class.

Louis

Please feel free...

to respond to one anothers comments on the bulletin board. Last quarter, I used a blog and students suggested this format so that they could communicate with one another. So please, feel free.

Fingertip

On Tuesday, you learned the basic lesson of contact improvisation: the fingertip tip dance. Your assignment was to teach this exercise to someone outside of class and to write a response about the experience. Please post your responses here:

Paul Taylor and the Kids

This week we've had some special guests for both classes. I'd like to hear your responses to both of these visitors. What did you learn about yourselves this week in relation to these two experiences?

Post your answers to the bulletin board:
